Mid-Flight giggles

First day back in Oakland. Have a huge headache but got to hang with Mags, then Tara, then Jason -- nice to have people around again. I'm feeling weird being in this new place - I'm basically living in some random guys apt. and cute as it is, it is still a weird feeling.
Anyway,
This is a little bit of something bigger, I hope, that I worked on during the flight across the damn United States today. The girl next to me on the plane was giggling while I drew - but I don't know why because when I looked at her, she just looked down at her ipod.

A Relief in Graves

In Boston. Last night went to the middle east. Fun place. We saw James Kochalka -- the guy who sings Robot Vs Monkey -- my animation teacher at UT, geoff, did the video for that song -- and it was the original inspiration for crazy taco monkey.
Geoff had told me that he sold the rights to some company that never distributed the video and now Geoff's not supposed to show it or he'll go to jail and die. but here is a still:

I'll troll around and find the original video.
Haven't been able to animate the past couple of days. Busy being a tourist -- visiting hot spots like King's chapel and the graves of Paul revere and John Hancock. I need to put up a pic. of the gravestones from those revolutionary days -- they are gothic ala tim burton style. It made me realize that we are all just copying off each other. Me with taco monkey and tim burton with those graves. What a relief.

Monkey On The Moon

I'm in Boston and I'm sick - so I'm stuck in my hotel room. Bored. So I'm working on my blog logo. Monkey On The Moon. I'm going to try a couple of different designs.

Bad Birthday Card

I made this one Dec. of 2004 - for my sister Ceme's birthday. The music is a local Austin band - something "worms" anyway, and the drawing is by Tim Burton who wrote/drew some excellent short stories that I recommend to any put-upon 15 yr. old - I speak from experience.

I'm at the Fort lauderdale airport - waiting to board a plane to Boston. More importantly, waiting to board a plane away from Florida. (Sorry Floridians, this state is not my thing) Considering that I don't like any place besides Austin, no one should take my opinion personally.
Anyway - Boston for a week. I'm going to do the whole sightseeing tourist thing. I bought my little guide book. I'm ready.

Car Shipping Makes Me Nervous

No internet to post this last night. Here is a little cutie I did while watching America's Next Top Model (rerun).

My car is supposed to be shipped today. It made me so nervous I barely slept. And there was a thunderstorm which also made me on edge. And I was afraid of aliens - so I kept the light on - that didn't help either. I can't wait to be cozy in my little apt. in a building full of friends, in a neighborhood full of friends, in a city that is not crazy like Hollywood Florida, but in its own gritty way. Which is different.

Pens cause arthiritis

I should write more letters. I don't want to put people in the position of having to write me back though. And I figure, after enough letters, I would expect to get one in return. Its only human.
Today I read this book:

It was good. But frightened me because it reminds me of how close my personality is to that of an autistic person. I fear being mentally unstable and I've come very close to losing it several times. I have a friend you thinks I should be medicated. But I worry that it would turn me into an unfeeling zombie.

My hand also starts to hurt when I write for awhile. I think the next generation will not be able to write with a pen or pencil at all. If you figure that I only started typing halfway through my life and find writing with a pen to be annoying after awhile that someone who was typing since birth will probably never see the point of writing manually like an animal. Texting will be the pen of the future. Maybe my generation will be the first to suffer from "tennis-thumb" or whatever - an agitation of the thumb joints as we age. That will be interesting. Its not "news you can use" though.

Speaking of -- I finally got a story in the paper.
But it will only be up for a week from this date. After that it goes into the paper's archives which people have to pay for which is ridiculous. Anyway. Its the one thing I can be proud of this summer except for not totally leaving Florida altogether and going on a rampage which was an inticing choice at one point.

Geese Make Mess

GoosePoop Productions!!

This is what I made tonight. If I didn't have to sit with my laptop at a random coffeeshop - and I had more time and imagination - I could probably put together an funny little piece. Hmmm.
Sesame Workshop -- here I come!

trip to the keys

Trip to the Keys. To some this may mean a drunken beach party with tanned, sexy young things. For me and Aaron -- it meant a trip to the Turtle Hospital.

An afterthought:
Awhile back, Aaron and I thought about starting a turtle-worshipping religion. Right now, I am re-reading Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krauker -- I think it's the leading contemporary book on Mormon Fundamentalism and its fascinating.
I think the turtle church idea came along about the same time I became interested in Mormons. Except Turtle-cans don't have sex with underage girls. but both religions were founded by a Smith!
Tenets of the Turtle-can faith:
Abide my the moors of ecology and biology - care for the habitat of all turtle-life from desert land to vast, salty sea. Lay around, sun-bathe and be thoughtful.
Amen. or Turtle-power!
